alternative Doctor
in Doomsday, Pete Tyler had taken over the Alternative Earth's version of Torchwood, and Rose ends up working for them. if there is a Torchwood, then this supposes that the events that led to the creation of Torchwood also took place on that world - which suggests that their version of Queen Victoria also met the Doctor (well that universes version of the Doctor anyway.
As there was no Rose for the Doctor to meet, then his life must have gone down a slightly different path. Did he die sometime after the werewolf incident (or during it), or is he traveling alone? he clearly must have escaped the Emperor Dalek without the assistance of Rose (or maybe in that universe the Emperor Dalek did not survive the Time War) - so who helped him? without Rose, he may never have met Captain Jack - or maybe he teamed up with someone else earlier on.
the point is, that unless the alternative universe Doctor is dead, then it is inevitable that through her work with Torchwood, Rose will one day meet the Doctor again - but he won't be her Doctor. in fact, there is a very good chance that he will have another companion. maybe it's Lynda, maybe it's Sarah Jane, maybe it's Lysette. This opens up some marvelous story ideas. How will she react to meeting a Doctor who does not even know her - let alone love her. how different will he be? will he again fall in love with her, or will he be too different, and maybe with a love of someone else?
